Leading Irish forecourt convenience retailer Maxol celebrated twenty-five years of Irish University Rugby Union sponsorship at the action-packed Maxol IURU Rugby Festival 2017 held over two days in late October. Ireland and Leinster player Garry Ringrose was in attendance at the men’s tournaments, despite the treacherous weather conditions. As part of a media partnership with Maximum Media, Garry not only gave an interview about his own time as a UCD player but also took part in a penalty kick practice.
Meanwhile, at the women’s Kay Bowen cup, former Ireland player Nora Stapleton was there to lend support, as was the cup’s namesake, Kay Bowen herself, the first female President of Dublin University Rugby Club
With multiple teams from six universities playing, the Maxol IURU Rugby Festival is the largest third level rugby event in Ireland and a great way to mark Maxol’s 25-year long relationship with the IURU – one of the longest commercial partnerships in Irish rugby.
